About the Founder

Miya, the creative force and founder of Pearl Oasis Studio.

Originally from China, Miya began her international journey at the age of 20, studying in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying from the UK, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Economics and Quantity Surveying from DIT Ireland.

Although academically trained as a Quantity Surveyor, Miya chose a different path at the beginning of her career. She entered the luxury retail industry, where she successfully ran her own business for over five years, sourcing premium products from renowned retailers, including Brown Thomas in Dublin.

Despite her success in business, Miya felt a strong pull back toward her academic roots. She went on to work as a Quantity Surveyor consultant for one of Ireland’s leading construction consultancy firms. Yet her entrepreneurial spirit and creative passion never faded. She continued to seek a path that would allow her to express her creativity beyond her professional career.

The inspiration behind Pearl Oasis Studio began with a deeply personal moment. On Valentine’s Day in 2019, Miya received a beautiful pearl bracelet from her husband, gifted from Christian Dior. While admiring the piece, she became curious about the pearl itself and soon discovered the fascinating world of natural pearls. This moment sparked a passion that would ultimately transform her career.

During the pandemic, Miya devoted herself to learning the art of jewellery making and understanding the unique qualities of natural pearls. She studied traditional techniques, completed a Goldsmith course in Dublin, and began sourcing pearls and materials with great care and intention. After more than three years of dedication, Pearl Oasis Studio was officially launched in September 2022, introducing a collection of modern pearl jewellery designed and handcrafted in Dublin.

Today, Miya designs and handcrafts each piece in her Dublin studio, combining her love for natural pearls with a refined, contemporary aesthetic. Her experience living and studying across different cultures has shaped her distinctive design perspective — blending Eastern elegance with a modern, global sensibility. Her background in luxury retail has further refined her eye for detail, quality, and timeless style.

Miya now lives in Ireland with her husband, John, and their son, Darren. Through Pearl Oasis Studio, she continues to share her vision of modern pearl jewellery — pieces designed to be worn, cherished, and passed on.

The story of our founder is an inspiring reminder that it's never too late to follow your dreams and turn your passion into a successful and fulfilling career.
