PEARL CARE GUIDE

Pearls are organic gemstones, a true investment.

It is important to follow the followings tips to preserve the best quality.

Care guides:

- After each wear, gently wipe freshwater pearls with a very soft,  clean cloth.

This process will ensure that any natural body oils, perfumes, makeup etc are wiped off the surface of the pearl, because any residual oils can damage the colour and lustrousness of the pearl over time.

- Avoid wearing pearls with perfumes and lotions.

Pearl can be damaged by many chemicals and all acids. The list includes hair spray, perfume, cosmetics, and even perspiration. Avoid direct contact with perfume, makeup, tanning and lotions to prevent tarnishing, marking or discolouring the pearls. The transfer of chemicals onto the freshwater pearl surface will affect the shiny lustre over time. If freshwater pearls are exposed to any lotion or perfumes, it is best to wipe them over with a soft damp cloth to remove any residue.

- Avoid wearing pearls in water: shower, hot tub, pools, intense work out and ocean.

Exposure to water can affect the adhesive used for most pearl earrings. Additionally, the chemicals used in chlorinated water will permanently damage the finish of the pearl, resulting in a dull pearl with no lustre.

- Check the stringing of your pearls.

Continually check the stringing of freshwater pearls and restring when necessary. On average, pearls should be restrung every 24 months depending on the frequency of wear.
