About the Founder
Miya, the creative force and founder of Pearl Oasis Studio, was born in Beijing. She has embraced diverse cultures throughout her life by studying in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying from the UK and another in Construction Economics from DIT, Ireland.
Formerly a Quantity Surveyor, Miya embarked on a career as a luxury goods buyer. She successfully ran her own business for over 5 years, sourcing luxury items from prestigious retailers, including Brown Thomas in Dublin. Yet, even with her achievements in the business realm, Miya felt a pull back to her academic roots. She subsequently served as a Quantity Surveyor consultant for one of Ireland's premier construction consultancy firms. However, her entrepreneurial spirit never waned, and she continued to feel a desire to pursue something that would ignite her passion and creativity beyond her professional QS pursuits.
The turning point came on Valentine's Day in 2019 when Miya received a beautiful pearl bracelet from the luxury brand Christian Dior, gifted by her loving husband. The bracelet was undeniably stunning; however, Miya noticed that the pearl used was not a natural pearl. This sparked her curiosity, and she began to explore the gap between natural pearls and fine jewellery in the market. Miya's newfound passion drove her to learn everything about the properties and beauty of natural pearls. The COVID-19 pandemic provided her with the opportunity to fully immerse herself in this fascinating world. She studied various techniques, enrolled in a Goldsmith course in Dublin, sourced materials ethically and sustainably. After more than 3 years dedication, Miya finally launched Pearl Oasis Studio in September 2022, offering her stunning collection of handcrafted pearl jewellery to customers worldwide.
With a deep appreciation for high-quality craftsmanship and timeless elegance cultivated during her years as a luxury goods buyer, Miya developed a keen eye for detail and a unique perspective on art and design. Each piece is a testament to her love for pearls, the fine art of jewellery making, and the fusion of diverse cultural influences. She ensures that each piece is crafted with the highest standards of quality and elegance, creating a unique and timeless treasure for you to cherish.
Now residing in Ireland with her husband, John, and their son, Darren, Miya dedicates her time to designing and handcrafting every piece in the Pearl Oasis Studio collection from her home studio in Foxrock, Dublin.
